Dans le cadre d\u2019une \u00e9tude publi\u00e9e par la revue Nutrition, des chercheurs on examin\u00e9 les bienfait possibles de la suppl\u00e9mentation en lut\u00e9ine sur la fonction visuelle des conducteurs en bonne sant\u00e9 expos\u00e9s \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re sur une p\u00e9riode prolong\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>Cette \u00e9tude a \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9e aupr\u00e8s de 120 conducteurs en bonne sant\u00e9.\u00a0 Pendant un an, on a donn\u00e9 au groupe d\u2019intervention 20 mg de suppl\u00e9ments de lut\u00e9ine par jour. On a analys\u00e9 l\u2019acuit\u00e9 visuelle, les concentrations s\u00e9riques de lut\u00e9ine, la performance visuelle et la densit\u00e9 optique de pigments maculaires (MPOD) des participants. Une densit\u00e9 de pigments maculaires faible constitue un facteur de risque important de d\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rescence maculaire li\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge.\u00a0 Une densit\u00e9 optique de pigments maculaires \u00e9lev\u00e9e r\u00e9duit non seulement ce risque, mais peut aussi am\u00e9liorer la performance visuelle.<\/p>\n<p>Des analyses ont \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9es avant l\u2019\u00e9tude et \u00e0 diff\u00e9rents intervalles de 1, 3, 6 et 12 mois.\u00a0 L\u2019apport alimentaire et la vision li\u00e9e \u00e0 la qualit\u00e9 de la vie ont aussi \u00e9t\u00e9 mesur\u00e9s durant les phases initiale et finale de l\u2019\u00e9tude.<\/p>\n<p>Le niveau de lut\u00e9ine et la densit\u00e9 optique de pigments maculaires centrale du groupe ayant re\u00e7u la suppl\u00e9mentation a augment\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re consid\u00e9rable, alors qu\u2019aucun changement n\u2019a \u00e9t\u00e9 observ\u00e9 dans le cas du groupe placebo.\u00a0 Le groupe ayant re\u00e7u la suppl\u00e9mentation a eu tendance \u00e0 pr\u00e9senter une am\u00e9lioration de l\u2019acuit\u00e9 visuelle. D\u2019autre part, on a observ\u00e9 des am\u00e9liorations au niveau du contraste et de la sensibilit\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9blouissement, surtout dans des conditions de faible luminosit\u00e9 chez le groupe suppl\u00e9ment\u00e9.\u00a0 Ce groupe a aussi pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 une nette am\u00e9lioration de son bilan par rapport \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle d\u2019\u00e9valuation du questionnaire sur le fonctionnement visuel (VFQ-25) de l\u2019Institut national pour la vue (<em>National <\/em><em>Eye<\/em><em> Institute<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Cette \u00e9tude a d\u00e9montr\u00e9 qu\u2019une suppl\u00e9mentation de 20 mg de lut\u00e9ine par jour permet d\u2019augmenter les niveaux de densit\u00e9 optique de pigments maculaires dans des contextes de faible luminosit\u00e9, tels que la conduite nocturne.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/23360692\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yao Y, Qiu QH, Wu XW, Cai ZY, Xu S, Liang XQ.
