El tabaquismo afecta negativamente a las c\u00e9lulas que recubren los vasos sangu\u00edneos (c\u00e9lulas endoteliales) y reduce la producci\u00f3n del activador tisular del plasmin\u00f3geno (t-PA), una sustancia que interviene en la disoluci\u00f3n de los co\u00e1gulos dentro de los vasos. Investigaciones anteriores han vinculado el aceite de pescado con los beneficios para la salud del coraz\u00f3n asociados con mejoras en los niveles de l\u00edpidos en la sangre, la presi\u00f3n arterial, la frecuencia card\u00edaca, reducciones en la formaci\u00f3n de co\u00e1gulos y la salud vascular en general.<\/p>\n<p>En un estudio publicado en la revista <em>Heart<\/em>, los investigadores examinaron los efectos de la suplementaci\u00f3n con \u00e1cidos grasos omega-3 en la salud cardiovascular y la funci\u00f3n vascular en los fumadores que, dentro de lo que cabe, son sanos. El ensayo aleatorio cruzado doble ciego controlado por placebo incluy\u00f3 a 20 fumadores de cigarrillos que recibieron 2 gramos de aceite de pescado o placebo durante un per\u00edodo de 6 semanas.<\/p>\n<p>El grupo que consum\u00eda los suplementos diarios de aceite de pescado se asoci\u00f3 con un aumento del doble del nivel de t-PA comparado con el grupo que consum\u00eda el placebo.
