Estudios anteriores han indicado que el licopeno probablemente tiene beneficios para la salud del coraz\u00f3n, sin embargo no todas las investigaciones han sido consistentes. Los estudios en los que se mide el licopeno en circulaci\u00f3n generalmente muestran una relaci\u00f3n inversa entre el riesgo de sufrir enfermedades cardiovasculares y los niveles de licopeno. Sin embargo, los estudios basados \u00fanicamente en la ingesta de licopeno alimenticio o licopeno consumido a trav\u00e9s de suplementos no ha sido tan concluyente.<\/p>\n<p>En un estudio publicado en <em>The British Journal of Nutrition<\/em>, investigadores analizaron el consumo de licopeno de 584 participantes en el Framingham Offspring Study<strong>. <\/strong>Para caracterizar la relaci\u00f3n entre el consumo de licopeno y la incidencia de enfermedades cardiovasculares, enfermedades coronarias (que incluyen infarto de miocardio, insuficiencia coronaria y angina de pecho) y embolia, se tomaron repetidas medidas de licopeno durante 10 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>El promedio del consumo de licopeno para el grupo de estudio fue de 7.9 mg por d\u00eda.
