Pero cuando el aire no est\u00e1 limpio, \u00bfdeber\u00eda sentirse bien por respirar profundamente? \u00bfC\u00f3mo influye la contaminaci\u00f3n del aire sobre su salud?<\/p>\n<p>La respuesta sencilla es que la contaminaci\u00f3n del aire es una importante preocupaci\u00f3n para la salud humana y es un factor de riesgo de diversos problemas de salud. Los efectos m\u00e1s comunes de la contaminaci\u00f3n del aire sobre la salud son aquellos de tipo respiratorio, como tos, asma y la exacerbaci\u00f3n de problemas de salud respiratoria ya existentes. En algunos casos, la contaminaci\u00f3n del aire puede relacionarse con problemas cardiovasculares mayores.<\/p>\n<p>Entre las causas m\u00e1s comunes de contaminaci\u00f3n del aire est\u00e1n las plantas generadoras de energ\u00eda, las plantas manufactureras, los calentadores que queman combustible, los autos y los incendios forestales. A pesar de las crecientes regulaciones gubernamentales para reducir las emisiones y de la creaci\u00f3n de dispositivos de combusti\u00f3n modernos m\u00e1s limpios, la calidad del aire en muchas \u00e1reas sigue siendo mala. Uno de los potenciales efectos negativos de estas part\u00edculas es que la exposici\u00f3n a ellas puede resultar en alteraciones epigen\u00e9ticas del ADN (los interruptores que encienden y apagan diferentes aspectos de su c\u00f3digo gen\u00e9tico) que podr\u00edan da\u00f1ar la salud.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Las vitaminas del complejo B podr\u00edan ayudar a proteger su salud contra el aire de mala calidad<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Usted no puede dejar de respirar, y la ultrafiltraci\u00f3n del aire podr\u00eda no ser factible en t\u00e9rminos financieros. Entonces, \u00bfcu\u00e1l es la soluci\u00f3n para ayudar a mitigar el impacto de la contaminaci\u00f3n del aire sobre la salud?<\/p>\n<p>La respuesta podr\u00eda radicar en la alimentaci\u00f3n. Los modelos animales ya han demostrado que la administraci\u00f3n de vitaminas del complejo B (y otros nutrientes ricos en metilo) pueden ayudar a reducir los efectos negativos de los estresores ambientales del ADN.<\/p>\n<p>En un estudio publicado en <em>PNAS<\/em> se utilizaron vitaminas del complejo B para determinar si los resultados previamente observados en animales eran relevantes para los humanos. Durante el tratamiento, a los participantes se les administraron 2.5 mg\/d\u00eda de \u00e1cido f\u00f3lico, 50 mg\/d\u00eda de vitamina B6 y 1 mg\/d\u00eda de vitamina B12. Los participantes fueron expuestos a PM<sub>2.5<\/sub>&nbsp;para determinar si las alteraciones epigen\u00e9ticas eran mitigadas por la suplementaci\u00f3n de vitaminas del complejo B.<\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de la exposici\u00f3n a las PM<sub>2.5<\/sub>, se hizo una medici\u00f3n de diferentes sitios del ADN de los participantes para determinar el grado de los cambios en el mismo.
