Una publicaci\u00f3n en la revista <em>American Journal of Clinical Nutrition<\/em> investig\u00f3 la asociaci\u00f3n de la fibra diet\u00e9tica total, la fibra de cereales y la fibra de frutas y verduras con los cambios en el peso y la circunferencia de cintura.<\/p>\n<p>El estudio de cohorte prospectivo incluy\u00f3 a 89,432 participantes europeos entre 20 y 78 a\u00f1os de edad que inicialmente estaban libres de c\u00e1ncer, enfermedades cardiovasculares y diabetes. Se les dio seguimientos a los participantes durante un promedio de 6.5 a\u00f1os. Para una ingesta total de fibra de 10 g al d\u00eda, hubo una p\u00e9rdida estimada de 39 g de peso por a\u00f1o y la circunferencia de cintura disminuy\u00f3 .8 mm por a\u00f1o. Una ingesta de fibra de cereales de 10 g al d\u00eda result\u00f3 en una reducci\u00f3n de peso de 77 g por a\u00f1o y una reducci\u00f3n de 1 mm por a\u00f1o en la circunferencia de cintura. Las fibras de frutas y verduras no se asociaron con el cambio de peso, pero tuvieron un efecto similar en la circunferencia de cintura al de la ingesta de fibra total y de cereales.<\/p>\n<p>Durante un per\u00edodo de 6.5 a\u00f1os, el aumento de peso y el aumento en la circunferencia de cintura se esperar\u00eda en adultos normales.
