Existe tambi\u00e9n la evidencia que demuestra que altos niveles de ingesta de vitamina D puede resultar beneficioso contra la presi\u00f3n arterial elevada, la fibromialgia, la diabetes mellitus, la esclerosis m\u00faltiple y la artritis reumatoide.<\/p>\n<p>En un estudio, los investigadores examinaron los datos relativos a 1 739 participantes en el marco del estudio <em>Framingham Offspring<\/em> para estudiar la relaci\u00f3n entre los niveles de vitamina D y el riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares. Aunque los niveles de vitamina D sobre los 30 ng\/mL se consideran como \u00f3ptimos para el metabolismo \u00f3seo, solamente el 10 % de los participantes mostraron niveles dentro de este rango. De hecho, el 28 % de ellos ten\u00eda concentraciones por debajo de 15 ng\/mL. Los participantes con valores bajo los 15 ng\/mL mostraban un 62% m\u00e1s de riesgo de desarrollar un problema cardiovascular en comparaci\u00f3n con aquellos con niveles m\u00e1s elevados. Las personas con bajo nivel de vitamina D y presi\u00f3n arterial elevada (m\u00e1s de 140 \/ 90 mmHg) doblaron el riesgo de padecer problemas cardiovasculares en comparaci\u00f3n con aquellas que ten\u00edan valores normales de presi\u00f3n arterial y vitamina D.<\/p>\n<p>La vitamina D es producida por la piel ante la exposici\u00f3n de los rayos ultravioletas UVB (luz solar) y se obtiene adem\u00e1s a trav\u00e9s de la dieta, en alimentos tales como el pescado de piel grasa, la yema de huevo y el h\u00edgado.
