Los adultos obesos fueron divididos aleatoriamente en dos grupos. El grupo de dieta de soya hipocal\u00f3rica consumi\u00f3 prote\u00edna de soya como la \u00fanica fuente proteica, y el grupo de dieta hipocal\u00f3rica tradicional consumi\u00f3 dos tercios de prote\u00ednas animal y el resto vegetal. Ambas dietas conten\u00edan aproximadamente 1200 calor\u00edas y se siguieron por 8 semanas.<\/p>\n<p>Se redujo considerablemente en ambos grupos el peso corporal, el \u00edndice de masa corporal, el por ciento de grasa y la circunferencia de la cintura. El porcentaje de grasa corporal en el grupo de la soya disminuy\u00f3 mucho m\u00e1s que en el grupo tradicional. Las concentraciones de colesterol s\u00e9rico total, de colesterol de lipoprote\u00edna de baja densidad y los par\u00e1metros de funcionamiento del h\u00edgado disminuyeron en el grupo basado en la dieta de soya, y arrojaron resultados significativamente diferentes en el grupo de dieta tradicional. No hubo cambios relevantes en los niveles de triglic\u00e9ridos, colesterol de lipoprote\u00edna de alta densidad y de glucosa en ayunas.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan los resultados, las dietas hipocal\u00f3ricas basadas en soya pueden disminuir notablemente el nivel de colesterol s\u00e9rico y las concentraciones de colesterol de lipoprote\u00edna de baja densidad.
